KIKUYU INSTANT LAWN

Kikuyu is the most common type of grass in Zimbabwe. It is well known its drought, hardness and resistant to wear. The name is derived from the Kikuyu people. This group inhabited the highland regions of East Africa.

SOWING

Steps that should be taking when sowing Kikuyu seeds:

  • Make sure that ground is loose, this can be archived by cultivating and racking
  • Damp the ground first before sowing the seeds using a soft sprinkler
  • Sow the seeds evenly aiming for approximately two handful of seed per square meter
  • Water the area again using a soft spray sprinkler
CHARACTERISTICS

Kikuyu can grow up to 5cm-10cm height. What makes Kikuyu grass perfect for Lawns? It grows quickly and it has the ability to cover the ground in no time. Kikuyu grass is renowned for its lush green growth, drought hardiness, resistance to wear and ability to survive Gardner neglect. MAINTANACE

Kikuyu less maintenance qualities alone can entice property owners with vast lawn beauty. It doesn’t require frequent watering but when done it should be thoroughly. Fertilizer application is not really necessary as it will course a lot of mowing. It can be applied in other patches which might be having stunted growth so that the turf becomes uniform. A fertilizer which is rich in nitrogen would be very effective. Kikuyu has the ability to survive gardener neglect

EMNVIROMENT WICH KIKUYU DOES BEST

Kikuyu does well when it gets full sunlight exposure. If it’s sowed in a place with no direct sunlight exposure it eventually dies. It still can thrive very well in both swampy and dry soil.

MEDICENAL PURPOSES

Kikuyu leaves can help in stopping bleeding wounds. The leaves can be grinded then placed on a cut to stop bleeding
